The Comte Dracula pepper produces an elegant plant with dark, almost black foliage, contrasting sharply with its purple flowers, and later with its fruits that ripen from deep black to blood red. The fruits are conical, about 5 cm long, and of medium size, with a heat level between that of a jalapeño and a cayenne pepper. It is a mid-season pepper, performing well in the ground or in pots, combining striking aesthetics with a good balance of spiciness. In fact, it can be picked as black as when fully ripe, but its heat level will vary accordingly.
