The Explosive Ember is an ornamental variety distinguished by its dark, almost black, purple foliage, as well as its purple flowers and stems. Some experts categorize this chili pepper in the Capsicum annuum family, while others classify it as Capsicum frutescens. Its properties, however, largely correspond to the Capsicum frutescens family, such as the Tabasco pepper. The flavor is comparable to that of cayenne pepper. The fruits, conical in shape and pointing upwards, ripen from purple to orange and then to bright red, producing a visual explosion effect. The plant remains relatively compact (approximately 25-35 cm tall), making it ideal for growing in pots or as a decorative element in mixed gardens.
